The models of the year 2017 will have a certain number of changes and can be ordered at all dealers of the brand with the new configuration as of august 2016. When the new models start being commercialized in August 2016, the engines of the boxer they will have additional technical changes in addition to the application of EU4 measures and the addition of catadioptrics as required by euro laws.
Technical changes in liquid-cooled boxer models
Like the R 1200 GS Adventure, all liquid-cooled boxer models will now carry a vibration damper on the transmission's output shaft. The new features also include new gear shift drum, drive shafts and transmission bearing. An OBD indicator light in the instrument cluster has been added to meet EU4 requirements.

In addition to the technical changes indicated above, the instrument panel of the R 1200 GS now has a renewed design. The range of optional accessories includes a new engine protection bar that allows mounting the cylinder protection covers, also available as optional accessories.
BMW R 1200 GS Adventure
In addition to the technical changes indicated above, the instrument panel of the R 1200 GS Adventure now has a renewed design. As of the 2017 model year, the matt Ocean Blue metallic color will no longer be available for the R 1200 GS Adventure.

The central cover of the tank, the luggage compartment and the front fender in Metallic Black Storm along with the side panels of the fuel tank in Black Metallic Slate give the legendary trail an impressive masculine image. The powerful technical improvements come with the Agate gray rear and front frame, in combination with the black engine, gearbox and swingarm.
A new black saddle with the acronym GS engraved on the passenger side completes the impressive appearance of the new R 1200 GS “Triple Black”.

In addition to the technical changes indicated above, the R 1200 RT will not only have new colors in the 2017 model year. With an eye on improving motorcycle safety, the range of optional equipment is extended to include the ABS Pro with dynamic brake light (only configurable in combination with Pro driving modes). These are the new colors of the R 1200 RT:
Black Metallic Carbon 
Alpine white
Finishes in Metallic Ebony Black and Metallic San Marino Blue / Matte Metallic Gray Granite will no longer be available. Platinometalized Bronze paint is still available.
